Treating Insect Bites With Essential Oils

Essential oils are ideal for treating most kinds of insect bites. Essential oils such as Lavender and Peppermint reduce insect bite-induced itching and infection.

Single oils:
Lavender, Eucalyptus globulus, Citronella, Tea Tree, Peppermint, Rosemary

Blends:
Purification (contains: Citronella (Cymbopogon nardus), lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus), rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), Melaleuca (Melaleuca alternifolia) lavandin (Lavandula x hybrida), and myrtle (Myrtus communis).

Melrose (contains: Ingredients: Melaleuca (Melaleuca alternifolia), naouli (Melaleuca quinquenervia), rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), and clove (Syzygium aromaticum).

PanAway (contains: Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens), helichrysum (Helichrysum italicum), clove (Syzygium aromaticum) and peppermint (Mentha piperita).

Blends for Stings and Bites:

1 drop Thyme

10 drops Lavender

4 drops Eucalyptus radiata

3 drops Roman or German Chamomile

Application:

Topical: NEAT or DILUTE 50/50 with a base oil such as almond or jojoba or V6, apply 1-2 drops on bite location 2-4 times daily.

BEE STINGS

Single Oils:
Lavender, Idaho Tansy

Blends:
Purification, Melrose, PanAway

Bee Sting Regimen:

Flick or scrape stinger out with credit card or knife, taking care not to squeeze the venom sack.

Apply 1-2 drops Purification, Melrose, Lavender, or Idaho Tansy on location. Repeat until the venom spread has stopped.

Apply Lavender with or without Idaho Tansy 2-3 times daily until redness abates. PanAway may be substituted for Purification

CHIGGARS (Mites)

Single Oils:
Tea Tree, Lavender

Blends:

R.C. (contains: Eucalyptus globulus leaf oil, myrtus communis oil, pinus sylvestris (pine) leaf oil, origanum majorana (marjoram) leaf oil, eucalyptus radiata leaf oil, eucalyptus citriodora leaf oil, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil, cupressus sempervirens oil, tsuga canadensis leaf oil, and mentha piperita (peppermint) oil.

Purification (contains: Citronella (Cymbopogon nardus), lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus), rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), Melaleuca (Melaleuca alternifolia) lavandin (Lavandula x hybrida), and myrtle (Myrtus communis)

Application:

Topical: NEAT 2-6 drops, depending on size of affected area, 3-5 times daily.

TICKS

Single Oils:
Thyme, Oregano, Peppermint

Blends:
R.C., Purification

Application:

Topical: NEAT, apply 1 drop neat thyme or oregano to tick to loosen from skin. Apply 1 drop neat Purification on site to detoxify wound. Apply 1 drop neat Peppermint every 5 minutes to reduce pain and infection.

BLACK WIDOW SPIDER BITE

Get victim to an emergency care facility immediately. Rub 1 drop lavender every 2-3 minutes over bite until you reach the hospital.

BROWN RECLUSE SPIDER BITE

The bite of this spider causes a painful redness and blistering which progresses to a gangrenous slough of the affected area. Seek immediate medical attention. Apply NEAT 1 drop of either Purification or Thieves every minute until you reach medical treatment.
