Swine Influenza Information from the CDC: Click Here to Read

Human cases of swine influenza A (H1N1) virus infection have been identified in the United States. Human cases of swine influenza A (H1N1) virus infection also have been identified internationally.

What is swine flu?

Swine Influenza (swine flu) is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A influenza viruses that causes regular outbreaks in pigs. People do not normally get swine flu, but human infections can and do happen. Swine flu viruses have been reported to spread from person-to-person, but in the past, this transmission was limited and not sustained beyond three people.

Are there human infections with swine flu in the U.S.?

In late March and early April 2009, cases of human infection with swine influenza A (H1N1) viruses were first reported in Southern California and near San Antonio, Texas. Other U.S. states have reported cases of swine flu infection in humans and cases have been reported internationally as well. An updated case count of confirmed swine flu infections in the United States is kept at http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu/investigation.htm CDC and local and state health agencies are working together to investigate this situation.

Is this swine flu virus contagious?

CDC has determined that this swine influenza A (H1N1) virus is contagious and is spreading from human to human. However, at this time, it not known how easily the virus spreads between people.

What are the signs and symptoms of swine flu in people?

The symptoms of swine flu in people are similar to the symptoms of regular human flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Some people have reported diarrhea and vomiting associated with swine flu. In the past, severe illness (pneumonia and respiratory failure) and deaths have been reported with swine flu infection in people. Like seasonal flu, swine flu may cause a worsening of underlying chronic medical conditions.

How does swine flu spread?

Spread of this swine influenza A (H1N1) virus is thought to be happening in the same way that seasonal flu spreads. Flu viruses are spread mainly from person to person through coughing or sneezing of people with influenza. Sometimes people may become infected by touching something with flu viruses on it and then touching their mouth or nose.

How can someone with the flu infect someone else?

Infected people may be able to infect others beginning 1 day before symptoms develop and up to 7 or more days after becoming sick. That means that you may be able to pass on the flu to someone else before you know you are sick, as well as while you are sick.

What should I do to keep from getting the flu?

First and most important: wash your hands. Try to stay in good general health. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food. Try not touch surfaces that may be contaminated with the flu virus. Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Can I get swine influenza from eating or preparing pork?

No. Swine influenza viruses are not spread by food. You cannot get swine influenza from eating pork or pork products. Eating properly handled and cooked pork products is safe.

What You Can Do to Stay Healthy

There are everyday actions people can take to stay healthy:

Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.

Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hands cleaners are also effective.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.

Try to avoid close contact with sick people.

Influenza is thought to spread mainly person-to-person through coughing or sneezing of infected people. If you get sick, CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.

PREVENTION - Keeping Your Body Healthy Naturally with Young Living Essential Oils

Our health and wellness is OUR responsibility. These superbugs are not going to go away, and the vaccines that are being created cannot keep up with the mutations.

Research is discovering that VIRUSES CANNOT BUILD A RESISTANCE TO PURE, THERAPEUTIC GRADE ESSENTIAL OILS: Click Here to Read the Full Article

An antibiotic or vaccine made in mass production in the laboratory is identically the same and the viruses are getting smart enough to mutate and get stronger against them. This is a fact, and we are watching it happen in our lifetime. Young Living Essential Oils can help us to keep ourselves and our families healthy every day of our lives because of the purity of these oils.

We know that this influenza goes deeply into the lungs. Gary Young teaches us that we can take the blend RC (respiratory & congestion) AND:

Drive it deeper into the LOWER lobes of the lungs by adding Spruce.

To drive the oils to the UPPER lobes, use Pine.

Respiratory oils – any of the Eucalyptus oils, RC, Raven, Peppermint, Ravensara, Lavender, Lemon, Spruce, Pine, Idaho Balsam Fir, Frankincense, Believe or the newest Ecuadorian oil, Eucalyptus Blue are all effective in respiratory support.

If you are in an area where this flu virus is active and need further protection, the N95 face mask may be a good option as it comes in 3 sizes – smallest will fit children. There are several masks at this link: N95 Masks

If I end up needing a mask, I will drop several drops of an essential oil into the mask for direct inhalation. Oils recommended include Thieves, Purification, Lemon, RC, Exodus II, and Hyssop.

Or: Egyptian Gold - “THIS IS YOUR BLEND FOR THE BIRD FLU” ~ According to Gary Young , N.D.

At the 2004 YL Convention, Gary Young recommended Egyptian Gold for the Bird Flu and other “Super Bugs.”

Airborne microbes enter our bodies through our eyes, nose, EARS and mouths. Putting a drop of essential oil such as Melaleuca (tea tree) on a cotton ball in the ears can give you an added level of protection. Caution – NEVER put an essential oil directly into the ear!

ESSENTIAL OILS THAT KILL SUPER GERMS – Cinnamon Bark, Lemongrass, Thyme, Peppermint, Malaleuca and Lavender.

RAINDROP –

The oils in Young Living’s Raindrop Technique kit are highly effective against viruses. Giving and receiving Raindrop Technique would be extremely beneficial. If you do not have anyone to facilitate a Raindrop for you, simply apply the oils to the bottoms of your feet. Another option, take an empty YL bottle (if you are like me, you have plenty of empty bottles!) and add 10-20 drops of each of the oils in the kit, add a bit of carrier oil such as Young Living’s V6 or a pure vegetable oil, and shake to blend.

This can be applied to the feet morning and night and inhaled straight from the bottle throughout the day. These are powerful oils; please use caution when applying and if the oils heat up on your skin, simply add some carrier oil to dilute and slow the entrance of the oil into your tissues. Essential Oils rubbed on the bottoms of your feet will enter every cell in your body within 22 seconds!

THIEVES - Click Here to Read the Full Post

The use of essential oils for medicinal purposes dates back thousands of years and more recently, through scientific study, we know the power of essential oils on airborne pathogens.

During the 14th century, the plague spread across Europe. It was estimated to have killed a third of Europe’s population while spreading to Asia and the Middle East. It was also known as the “Black Death” because one of the symptoms, acral necrosis, caused skin to blacken from sub dermal hemorrhages. So terrorizing was the disease that it killed within a week, usually 3-4 days, wiping out entire families. “The pestilence was so contagious that those who touched the dead or the sick were immediately affected themselves and died”.

During this time, there was a group of four thieves who were able to not only go near the dying and dead, but were able to touch them. The thieves robbed the bodies of the inflicted and did not become ill, themselves. They were caught in 1413 in Marseilles, France. When they were tried, the magistrate offered leniency if they exposed their secret to resisting the infection. The thieves disclosed a concoction of aromatic herbs, including cloves and rosemary, which they rubbed on their hands, ears, and temples in order to avoid contracting the plague.

This recipe was recreated in Young Living’s blend, Thieves®, which contains the oils of clove, lemon, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus, and rosemary. It is highly antimicrobial. When tested at Weber State University, it was found to have a 99.96% kill rate against airborne bacteria.

There is an entire arsenal of Thieves essential oil-based products to keep your environment healthy such as Thieves Essential Oil, Thieves Cough Drops, Thieves Mouthwash, Thieves Spray, Thieves Hand Soap, Thieves Hand Sanitizer, Thieves Hand Wipes, and Thieves Household Cleaner. In addition, the new supplement, INNER DEFENSE contains the essential oils used in our Thieves blend plus Thyme and Citronella. This is a very powerful supplement for health and wellness support.

Use Thieves in your washing machine, dishwasher, wash down counters and bathrooms, diffuse in your environment, put on cotton balls and stick them in your air ducts at home or in your car. Add lemon essential oil to increase your protection against airborne pathogens.

Keep the air you bring into your lungs as clean as possible by using Young Living Essential Oils all day, every day! Simply removing and smelling the cap of your essential oils throughout the day provides health benefits.

Airplane Travel:

One of the ways the Swine flu is being carried from country to country is via air travel. If you must travel by airplane, please take precautions.

When traveling you could take a couple Kleenex and saturate them with drops of oils such as listed above then put the Kleenex into a baggie and keep it with you. Throughout the flight you can pull out the baggie and INHALE.

Mix a mild essential oil such as Lavender into a small amount of Animal Scents Ointment and rub a bit on the insides of your nostrils.

Bring along Thieves cough drops and share them with your airplane neighbors.

Use your Thieves hand sanitizer before, during and after your flight.

Some additional tips:

Inhale – Put a few drops on the palm of your hand, rub your hands together, cup your hands over your nose/mouth and inhale deeply three times. Inhaling essential oils throughout the day can greatly benefit your wellness goals.

Gargle – Use Thieves Mouthwash and gargle morning and night. You can also gargle with a small amount of hydrogen peroxide and water.

Use ONLY Young Living Essential Oils Internally – I trust Young Living to provide me with the most pure and therapeutic grade essential oils in the world. Because of this, I do not hesitate to take these oils internally. I put them in gelatin capsules, take a drop and rub it on the insides of my cheeks or under my tongue, or drink it in my water throughout the day. I have never had an adverse reaction and only received benefits. Young Living actually already has essential oils already in capsules such as Inner Defense, specially formulated by Gary Young.

Diffuse- You are your best diffuser. Put your oils on your body, rub them on your upper chest/thymus area, or put some one your hands and rub them together and gently run your hands over your clothes. When I am driving to and from work I take some oils on my hands and rub my car seats, the interior hood, and my steering wheel.

Young Living has several outstanding aromatic diffusers to help clean your environment by diffusing and spraying the oil molecules into the air. When using a diffuser, diffuse for 15 minutes, and then run a fan if possible. You can do this every hour, or every 2-3 hours throughout the day. See my post on diffusers: The Coolest New Technology for Diffusing Essential Oils

Make a Spray – Spray bottles are inexpensive. Add 10-20 drops of your favorite oil(s) and fill with distilled water, shake and spray.

Add Essential Oils to Your Bath – Soothe your soul with a relaxing essential oil bath. Mix several drops of your favorite oil in a quarter to half cup of Epsom salts and add to running water. Eucalyptus, RC, Raven, Lavender, Gentle Baby, Joy, Geranium – any of these oils are wonderful to bathe in. I would NOT suggest using the more caustic essential oils (clove, cinnamon, oregano or thyme); stick with the gentle oils such as listed above.

Topical – Put your oils on your feet, rub them on your arms and hands, and rub them on the back of your neck or on your thymus area. Put your oils on the back of your hand, reach around and you can easily rub them up your spine (neat little trick!).

Apply the Oils to Your Energy Centers and Energy Field –

Supplements – So important!

AlkaLime® is a precisely-balanced alkaline mineral and essential oil powder formulated to safely balance the acidity of the digestive system. This is important because a balanced pH allows the body to maintain vigor and health. This formula helps counteract overconsumption of processed sugars and foods that may turn to sugar in the body, such as pasta, bread, and processed corn products.

ComforTone® (capsules) is an effective combination of herbs and essential oils that support the health of the digestive system by eliminating residues from the colon and enhancing its natural ability to function optimally. Because it supports normal peristalsis (the wave-like contractions that move food through the intestines), ComforTone is ideal for strengthening the system that delivers nutrients to the rest of the body. It also contains ingredients that are beneficial to liver, gall bladder, and stomach health.

ImmuPro™ provides the benefits of natural immune-supporting Ningxia wolfberry polysaccharides in the convenience of a delicious fruit-flavored chewable supplement. Beta glucan has been shown in studies to enhance the immune system’s response and to help maintain cholesterol levels that are already within the normal range. ImmuPro contains reishi and maitake mushrooms, which support the activity of antibodies and natural killer cells. This formula is enhanced with calcium, zinc, selenium, and copper, all needed for proper immune function.

Young Living’s Inner Defense™ reinforces systemic defenses, creates unfriendly terrain for yeast/fungus, promotes healthy respiratory function, and contains potent essential oils like oregano, thyme, and Thieves® which are rich in thymol, carvacrol, and eugenol for immune support. The liquid softgels dissolve quickly for maximum results.

Super C™ Chewable is a wonderful and delicious way to get your daily dose of vitamin C. Even better, it’s the most complete, biologically utilizable vitamin C supplement available, as it is derived from a whole food source: acerola cherries. Designed for those who have difficulty swallowing pills, Super C’s tangy citrus flavor goes down easily and starts working immediately.

MultiGreens™ is a nutritious chlorophyll formula designed to boost vitality by working with the glandular, nervous, and circulatory systems to relieve stress, and promote energy metabolism and glucose utilization.* MultiGreens is made with spirulina, alfalfa sprouts, barley grass, bee pollen, eleuthero, Pacific kelp, and therapeutic-grade essential oils.

PRO-biotics - Life 5 – Young Living’s powerful pro-biotic which contains 8 billion active cultures. It is important for our immunity to keep a balance of good bacteria in our gut. ANTI-biotics can kill off the good bacteria along with the bad, so using PRO-biotics after a course of antibiotics can help balance our systems and may help our immunity.

Thump Your Thymus! – Stimulating the thymus gland may help increase the body’s immunity. Add some oils to your fingertips and follow along with the video:

Water –

Increase your water intake to help move toxins out of your system.

These oils are very powerful. If you experience sensitivity to the oils, please use a carrier oil to dilute and drink plenty of water and the sensitivity should pass within moments. When in doubt, use caution and go slowly.

If you have essential oils – PLEASE USE THEM.

If you have Inner Defense, USE IT.

Put your oils such as lemon, orange, tangerine and peppermint into the water you drink.

Valentine’s Day is here again so now would be the perfect time to talk about the more sensual and erotic essential oils that are perfect for romantic evenings with that someone special.

Three of the most popular and well known essential oils in aromatherapy that provoke feelings of pleasure, sensuality and erotic moods and help to open the body and release inhibitions are orange, ylang ylang and jasmine.

Orange essential oil helps to stimulate joy, optimism and playfulness. Physiologically orange essential oil creates warmth and pleasure in the body and stimulates sensuality and pleasure… especially when combined with ylang ylang essential oil. Orange helps connect us to our five physical senses and also helps to remove inhibitions.

Ylang ylang is a soft sweet erotic fragrance that stimulates feminine sensuality, euphoria and erotic moods. The fragrance stimulates the part of the brain that releases endorphins so it has anti-depressive properties and is great for nervous depression and tension. Its effects are calming and antispasmodic, much like valerian. It is wonderful for helping the body to relax, unwind and open up to sensual pleasures.

Mixing orange and ylang ylang together is a powerful combination for casting that magic spell of sensual and erotic ambience.

Jasmine is another powerful fragrance that deeply influences the emotional part of us. Jasmine is especially great for helping to dissolve away emotional blocks involving relationships and sex. Jasmine helps with reducing psychological tension, frigidity, coldness, fear and paranoia and helps bring a sense of euphoria.

Under its influence both men and women open up to sensual love. Jasmine helps set the stage for experiencing warm love, total abandon, trust and relaxes and helps to open the body and emotions.

Jasmine is very stubborn and its fragrance won’t release with traditional steam distillation so, unfortunately today, jasmine oil is generally produced by extraction that involves the use of solvents like hexane, petro-ether, chlorinated hydrocarbon or tetrachlormethane. The solvents are evaporated but the minute quantities that do remain are very toxic.

Jasmine is also a very expensive essential oil to produce. It takes about 1000 pounds or 3.6 million fresh hand picked blossoms to make only one pound of the essential oil so there are only a few producers of jasmine oil and unfortunately the most cost effective way to get the oil out of the blossom is with chemical solvents.

Since Young Living Essential Oils are only 100% therapeutic grade essential oils with no chemicals used Jasmine essential oil is not offered by Young Living.

But I did want to include writing about jasmine because it is a powerfully sensual oil. If you do use jasmine essential oil care should be taken not to use it orally or on the body and I’m not even sure if by diffusing it one wouldn’t be inhaling the chemicals along with it but if you can ever find jasmine oil extracted by the enfleurage method I would definitely recommend taking advantage of this magic oil.

Another option would be planting some night blooming jasmine near your bedroom window…night blooming jasmine opens its blossoms at night and the fragrance is quite powerful.

Christmas time is here soon and with it brings the fabled story of the 3 Wise Men bringing the precious oils of Frankincense and Myrrh to the baby Jesus. What better time to give these precious oils to someone YOU love and adore?

Frankincense Essential Oil

Frankincense essential oil has since ancient times been considered by many many cultures as the “holy annointing oil” and as a gift to the gods. It has been used in religious ceremonies for thousands of years.

In ancient times healing was strictly limited to priests and priestesses. The power to heal was considered a sacred art usually associated with or practiced as ritual activities.

Frankincense was well known for its annointing and healing powers and was used to treat every conceivable ill known to man.

Frankincense was valued more than gold during ancient times and only those with great wealth and abundance possessed it. It is mentioned in one of the oldest known medical records, the Ebers Papyrus (dating from sixteenth century BC) an ancient Egyptian list of 877 prescriptions and recipes.

The medical properties of Frankincense essential oil are antitumoral, immuno-stimulant, antidepressant, and it is used to treat depression, cancer, respiratory infections, inflammation and to stimulate the immune system.

Frankincense essential oil contains sesquiterpenes which stimulate the limbic system of the brain (the center of memory and emotions) and the hypothalamus, pineal and pituitary glands. The hypothalamus is the master gland of the human body, producing many vital hormones including thyroid and growth hormone.

The fragrant influences of Frankincense increase spiritual awareness, promotes meditation, improves attitude and uplifts spirits.

Frankincense essential oil along with Sandalwood is also well known for enhancing and supporting the skin’s natural ability to rebuild DNA.

Frankincense essential oil is hard to find in an un-adulterated state. The frankincense resin, or gum, that is sold in Somalia costs between $30,000 and $35,000 per ton and when steam distilled is very expensive. Most producers and importers of Frankincense essential oil distill the oil with alcohol and also cut it with other synthetics to stretch the oil.

Frankincense that is sold for as low as $25 per ounce is distilled with alcohol and cut with synthetics. When these cut, synthetic and adulterated oils cause rashes, burns or other irritations, we wonder why we don’t get the benefit we were expecting and come to the conclusion that essential oils don’t have that much value.

That’s why it’s critical to use only 100% therapeutic grade essential oils. Anything less than pure un-adulterated essential oils will not provide the benefits desired and will also be extremely toxic. I personally use and recommend Young Living Oils as all of their essential oils are 100% pure therapeutic grade essential oils.

Myrrh Essential Oil

Myrrh essential oil was also one of the oils presented by the 3 Wise Men to the baby Jesus as a gift. Myrrh essential oil is somewhat similar in properties to Frankincense essential oil. It was also mentioned in the Ebers Papyrus and listed in Hildegard’s Medicine, a compilation of early German medicines by highly regarded Benedictine herbalist Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179).

The Arabian people used Myrrh for many skin conditions, such as chapped and cracked skin and wrinkles.

The medical properties of Myrrh essential oil are powerful antioxidant, antitumoral, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antiparasitic, analgesic/anesthetic and is used to treat diabetes, cancer, hepatitis, fungal infections like Candida, ringworm, eczema etc… Myrrh essential oil also helps with tooth/gum infections and skin conditions (chapped, cracked, wrinkles, stretch marks).

The fragrant influences of Myrrh essential oil promote spiritual awareness and is uplifting. It also contains sesquiterpenes which stimulate the limbic system of the brain and the hypothalamus, pineal and pituitary glands.

Christmas Spirit Essential Oil Blend

“Joy Essential Oil” “Gratitude Essential Oil”

Now is a time of great Joy and Gratitude. We have so much to be joyous and grateful for…we have a beautiful planet to live on, a kind and loving universe out to support us, magnificent creative powers, wonderful friends and family and amazing possibilities and opportunities at every turn.

So in the spirit of Thanksgiving holiday, which is just around the corner, this is the perfect time to talk about Joy and Gratitude.

We are all aware that our thoughts create our reality and that we manifest what we continually think about and what we feel highly emotional about. Our present circumstances reflect with detailed accuracy what we have been continually thinking and feeling.

When you think thoughts of “thanks,” it’s exactly the same as thinking thoughts of having received. And, as is true of all thoughts on the plane of manifestation, they must immediately strive to manifest into your life.

Taking a few minutes a day to just feel happy and joyous and grateful for all the wonderful things in your life as if they already exist will bring profound changes into your life experience.

It’s been well known for a long time now that the mind cannot distinguish the difference between reality and non-reality and as long as the mind believes something to be real it is real as far as the mind is concerned.

What everyone wants in the end is just to be happy. We go about trying to attain happiness through various means such as relationships, jobs, status and possessions but if all of that is just a means to an end of attaining happiness wouldn’t it be much easier to just take a few moments and slip into this feeling even if at first you’re just pretending?

Doing this on a regular enough basis, soon your mind will not know the difference between make believe and reality and you really will be happy….

Since fragrance highly influences our moods and feelings here are two wonderful aromatherapy essential oil blends to help get you into the space of feeling Joy and Gratitude.

Right now we are living in some very interesting times with some very disturbing things going on in the world around us. It can be very easy to start getting caught up in the widespread panic, fear and pandemonium that seems to be spreading globally.

I know this is a blog about essential oils and aromatherapy and towards the end of the post I will be covering Peace and Calming essential oil blend but special circumstances call for a special blog post and I wanted to share some angel messages with you that may help to provide some extra peace and calming to you in these interesting times.

What is so important now, more than ever, is to keep your thoughts and feelings based in peace and light. Peace of mind means feeling secure, knowing you’re always provided for. Even if your logical mind cannot fathom how a challenge could be resolved, peace of mind means that you trust you can manifest a miraculous solution.

It’s a mistake to think that you have to wait until your life is problem free before you can be happy and peaceful. The opposite is actually true. First you feel peace of mind and know you are always provided for and that without a doubt you can manifest what you want and then you are in the right vibration to attract and manifest what you want.

Still the mind, in the process of doing its job to help with self preservation, continually conjures up worst case scenarios, fears about what might happen, fear that you’re helpless and powerless to change your situations, and its continual conflict and chasings can be exhausting and fear generating which, if left unchecked, would only manifest exactly what it was afraid of.

Here’s what the angels have to say: “You have a sacred mission to spread love and light. Yet, this doesn’t happen when you are in a state of tension and worry…. rather, when you are in a state of joy and lightheartedness. Why would you feel tension and worry unless you felt that somehow you were unsafe?

And how could you be unsafe when you’ve called upon the powerful protection of all of heaven? Surrender these fears to God and Goddess, dearest one! Trust that you are supported, loved, and guided each moment…. trust that the same power that brought you to your spiritual path will also take care of everything else for you…after all, this power supports all the planets in the sky…it will surely support you perfectly too.”

Archangels To Call Upon For Help With Releasing Fearful Thoughts & Emotions

Archangel Michael - whose name means “He Who is Like God”

Archangel Michael is a leader among archangels. His chief role is to escort away the lower energies of fear. He’s in charge of the order of angels known as “the Virtues”.

Archangel Michael guides and directs us with our life purpose and career path. He is usually seen carrying a sword which he uses to release us from fear and he is a very powerful protector. If you feel vulnerable, anxious, unsafe or afraid call on him to be your bodyguard and help you to release your fear and worry.

Also call on him to give you courage. When he’s around you may see sparkles or flashes of bright blue or purple light….also note that Archangel Michael is a fiery energy so you may also feel flashes of heat.

Archangel Jophiel - whose name means “Beauty of God”

Archangel Jophiel is the archangel of art and beauty. She helps us both metaphysically and physically. First she helps us think beautiful thoughts; to see and appreciate the beauty around us; and to, therefore, create, manifest, and attract more beauty into our lives.

After all, beautiful thoughts lead to beautiful outcomes. In the physical world she also helps with creative and artistic projects and illuminates our creative spark. Archangel Jophiel also helps us create beauty at home and work and in our relationships and helps us experience more grace and peace in our lives by slowing down to smell the roses and noticing the beauty that already surrounds us.

She says: “Worry never helped anything so why turn to it in time of need? It won’t nurture or heal you, quite the opposite actually. It’s so much better to put the effort into something creative as a way to quietly meditate through positive action. Create, create, create! In this way you mirror God’s own creativity.”

Call on Archangel Jophiel to help shift any negative thoughts of worry or fear to thinking positive beautiful and peaceful thoughts and to see the beauty and grace in the truth of your situation.

Archangel Uriel - whose name means “Light of God” or “Fire of God”

Archangel Uriel is the most radiant archangel because he illuminates situations and gives us knowledge and understanding of why things are the way they are. He helps us trust in the plan God/Goddess has designed for us so that when things appear to be going wrong, we know that everything is in Divine order.

Archangel Uriel is also considered as one of the wisest archangels. He has been credited with bringing knowledge of the Qaballa and the knowledge and practice of alchemy…the ability to turn base metal into precious metal, as well as the ability to manifest from thin air to humankind.

You can call upon him for intellectual information, practical solutions, and creative insight. Ask him to give you additional answers, insights, information and perspectives about something so you can make informed decisions. His personality isn’t quite as distinctive as Archangel Michael’s.

You may not even realize that he has come to help until you notice a brilliant new idea that’s entered your mind. He’s known for his ability to enlighten our minds with Divine inspiration. Pay attention to thoughts and ideas that come to you, as they’re answered prayers.

He’s also considered the “psychologist angel” because he helps heal toxins from our thoughts and emotions. He is especially good with releasing stubborn anger and unforgiveness. His healing is very subtle and graceful and he gently heals our thoughts and emotions so that we are not overwhelmed by the transformation and healing process.

I hope this angel information can help to bring you peace of mind and heart during these interesting times. Just remember the angels help is as simple as just asking and the help you receive is so powerful and effective. Don’t go through life the hard way when help is all around you.

What the angels want you to remember though is that they operate on the law of non interference so they cannot step in to help you unless you specifically ask them to with the exception of protecting you from a life endangering situation that is happening before your exit time has arrived. That would take away our free will and our power as creators of our own life experience. But they are there the moment you ask for help to lovingly provide it.

Other things that can also support your feelings of peace of mind and security are to go on a news and TV fast for a few days….the news is mostly fear based information that only adds to feelings of fear and worry…also start listening to soothing music and music with words that are supportive and uplifting.

Another thing you can do is clear the clutter and mess in your workspace and home. Clutter and mess emanate the vibrations of chaos and disorder and can be very disturbing to your energy field. Clearing your personal environment from clutter and mess can help you to feel that your world is in order and can actually help with your feelings of security and peace of mind.

Another really quick way to start feeling more peace and calming is through using essential oils.

Essential oils are able to reach deep into the recesses of our brains, cross over the chemical barriers, and open the hidden channels within our minds and bodies. Essential oils fragrances pass on to the limbic system of the brain without being registered by the cerebral cortex.

Within the limbic system resides the regulatory mechanism of the innermost core of our being. Here is the seat of our sexuality, the impulse of attraction and aversion, our motivation and our moods, our memory and creativity, as well as our autonomic nervous system.

Because the limbic system is directly connected to those parts of the brain that control heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, memory, stress levels, and hormone balance, essential oils can have some very profound physiological and psychological effects.

Also present in the limbic system of the brain is a gland called the amygdala. In 1989 it was discovered that the amygdala plays a major role in the storing and releasing of emotional trauma. The only way to stimulate this gland is with fragrance or the sense of smell. So now, with Aromatherapy and essential oils, we are able access the amygdala to release emotional trauma.

One essential oil in particular that I would recommend is Peace & Calming Essential Oil Blend.

Peace & Calming essential oil is a gentle, comforting blend that is wonderful for stressful times. When diffused, it helps calm tensions and uplift the spirit, promoting relaxation and a deep sense of peace. When massaged on the bottoms of the feet, it can be a wonderful prelude to a peaceful night’s rest. Peace & Calming is especially great to use with children.

Testimonials:

I have a client who had a bad experience while driving she was so upset almost in tears. So I used 2 drops of Peace and Calming in my hands and cooped them over her nose and less than a second she was so calm I was impressed. I am new at this so just imagine!

- Doralina Garcia
Esthetician

I had to give a deposition in an attorney’s office recently; needless to say I experienced a lot of anxiety. While sitting in the reception area I decided to see what oils I had with me and wound up using Peace and Calming wherever I could.

Well, I have to say that for 1.5 hours, about the time the deposition lasted, everything went absolutely beautifully. No heart palpitations, no tremors in my voice, my thinking was clear and concise, no nervous anxiety. I could feel the effects wearing off so I checked my watch because I was curious to know how long the experience lasted. A great oil, I would imagine, to get one through all kinds of presentations.

-Arline Konikow

I had a dog who was petrified of thunderstorms. Prior to putting essential oils on her paws she went through a basement window as a storm was approaching. I applied Peace and Calming the next time she started to shake and she settled down and was not bothered. Also it got so she would come looking for the oils in my purse. Animals are very smart and you don’t have to convince them.

-Vicki Lynne Jost

My little girl was having a really hard time resting last night. So, on the second time around that I got up because she was tossing and turning and groaning, I put a couple of drops of Peace and Calming essential oil in my hand. I rubbed it on the soles of her feet. In less than five minutes, she was sound asleep, sleeping peacefully until morning.

-Mirdza Hayden

My daughter had night terrors around ages 5 and 6. She would begin to cry and talk nonsensically in her sleep. Because she was not awake, I could not reason with her or comfort her. Nothing I tried worked until I tried the Peace and Calming essential oil blend. I put a drop on my hands, rubbed them together and put them in front of her nose so she would breathe in the vapor. It worked beautifully. She would take a deep breath, relax and sleep peacefully.

-Lori Dayton

I diffuse Peace and Calming essential oil at my work in my office during the day. I find that I am calmer at work which is a stressful place. I also find that I am more easily able to let the stresses of the day go at the end of the day.

ESSENTIAL OIL of Orange (Citrus sinensis) is a fun cheery oil that is one of my all-time favorites and one that is perfect for someone just being introduced to essential oils. Orange essential oil has many uses both physiologically and emotionally.

Orange essential oil helps prevent the growth of bacteria and stops free radicals (orange essential oil has a 7500 score on the ORAC scale - Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity… making it a very good anti-oxidant)

Orange essential oil also enhances the absorption of vitamin C in the body. It is high in vitamin C and carotene (vitamin A). Orange essential oil is also very high in limonene, a super-nutrient that has been studied extensively for its ability to prevent cellular mutations and combat cancer tumor growth in over 50 clinical studies.

It benefits the heart by lowering the heart rhythm and helping to regulate the heartbeat. It is beneficial for hypertension and arteriosclerosis, is anticoagulant, stimulates the bladder and kidneys, is a diuretic and is great for relieving fluid retention, it also softens the epidermis, reduces the appearance of cellulite, stimulates blood circulation and lymph fluids and is very helpful in treating swollen tissue.

<a href=http://www.essentialoilsaromatherapyinfo.com/blog">Orange essential oil is very beneficial and soothing to dry, irritated, or acne-prone skin conditions. Its regenerative properties make it good for aging as well as rough or calloused skin. Avoid applying to skin that will be exposed to sunlight or UV light within 24 hours.

It is a very warming oil both physically and emotionally.

Orange essential oil is uplifting and anti-depressant. A 1995 Mie University study found citrus fragrances boosted immunity, induced relaxation and reduced depression

For geographical locations that lack sunshine on a regular basis or rooms without much light, diffusing orange essential oil is great for helping with depression and seasonal affective disorder.

Orange helps to stimulate joy, optimism and playfulness… it harmonizes feelings and awakens creativity. It’s wonderful to use for children and for adults too who want to laugh and play or for times when you may feel tense, nervous and withdrawn and need help to relax and open up.

Physiologically orange essential oil creates warmth and pleasure in the body and stimulates sensuality and pleasure… especially when combined with ylang ylang essential oil. Orange helps connect us to our five physical senses and also helps to remove inhibitions. Diffusing orange essential oil in the bedroom might be highly beneficial in certain ways.

Some more great uses for Orange essential oil:

Orange oil is great for wood care and furniture. It is gentle yet it powerfully protects wood from insect damage and easily cleans fingerprints and grime off of the furniture without damaging it.

Use orange essential oil for cleaning oil and grease from your cooktop and surrounding areas in the kitchen.

Add a few drops of orange essential oil to hand soap to clean dirt, grease and even paint off of dirty hands.

Mix a couple drops of orange essential oil with some baking soda to make a paste and brush your teeth for natural teeth whitening instead of chemical bleaches that are absorbed sublingually into the bloodstream.

Massage orange essential oil over cellulite problem areas for smoother looking and feeling skin.

Massage over callouses on the bottoms of feet for smooth and pretty feet.

Orange oil is also a perfect oil to add to your culinary favorites. It stimulates the appetite and digestion. I love adding a heaping tablespoon of raw cacao powder and about 8-10 drops of orange essential oil to my morning protein shake for a wonderful chocolate orange flavor that is super high in anti-oxidants too.

Believe it or not it is excellent on salads. Once I accidentally picked up a bottle of orange essential oil instead of the lemon essential oil and put it all over my salad…when I realized I had used the wrong oil and thought I had ruined my salad I almost threw it out and started over but when I tasted it, it was amazing…even better than lemon…now I use it all the time on salads.

I also add a few drops of orange essential oil to a honey and balsamic vinegar reduction….after it cools down of course so I don’t destroy the essential oil….and use this as a wonderful glaze over duck breast.

It’s great in deserts too like cheesecake, cookies, and mulled wine and anything chocolate. Add a drop to orange spice tea with a little coconut milk for a wonderful alternative to coffee with cream.

This is a great beginner oil that everyone loves and should always have on hand.

“essential oils” “diffusers” “aromatherapy diffusers”

Diffusing is simply distributing essential oils into the air so they clean the air and are inhaled. In your home or office, it is an ideal way to help relieve tension, dispel odors, and create an environment of peace and harmony. A diffuser disperses the oils without heating them; therefore, retaining their therapeutic benefits.

When you heat essential oils, such as in a candle or diffusers that have a candle burning underneath the well then the therapeutic benefits are completely destroyed and the essential oil becomes simply fragrance. Cold diffusing retains the therapeutic properties of the essential oils so if you want the therapeutic benefits from the essential oils then a cold diffusing method is what you need to use.

Young Living has come out with the first ultrasonic diffuser and this diffuser is very high tech and very cool….and no one else has this.

The Ultrasonic Diffuser is a essential oil atomizer that can diffuse any essential oil from lavender to sandalwood, which is a very heavy dense oil. Using an optimal frequency of 2,400,000 cycles/second, Young Living’s Ultrasonic Diffuser atomizes cold water and essential oils, breaking up molecules into a microscopic mist. Capable of diffusing any essential oil, the Ultrasonic Diffuser has a much deeper well enabling longer more continuous diffusing without frequent refilling.

Other unique features include a timer, with five different cycle options; a soothing chromatherapy light system guaranteed to set a calming mood in any room in your home; and three different diffusion rates for easy saturation control, all of which are unique to Young Living.

Another style of diffuser is the traditional nebulizer diffuser.

This diffuser consists of an air pump, an oil well base, and a glass nebulizer connected by a flexible air tube. Attached to the air tube is a flow control valve. This type of diffusion works to put the whole oil into the air in the form of tiny droplets.

Another handy diffuser to have is the new Travel Fan Diffuser.

This is a great option for taking with you to a hotel or the office or overnight at grandma’s… Use the Travel Fan Diffuser to transform your driving routine into a rejuvenating experience. A great oil to use for this would be Lemon essential oil as this increases mental alertness and disinfects the air and kills odors. It’s also a happy oil which might make for a happier driving experience when you get stuck in traffic.

The Travel Fan Diffuser is capable of diffusing any essential oil. It diffuses by blowing cool air through the essential oil pad, releasing the therapeutic benefits of the essential oil into the air and allowing the oils to be easily absorbed. The Travel Fan Diffuser uses a quiet but powerful mini fan and all natural high-density essential oil pads, and has output that can fill room as large as 1000 sq. ft.

It is recommended using a timer with any diffusers and setting it to run for about 10 minutes each hour.

Pour 15 to 20 drops of oil directly into the well approximately one-quarter inch deep. Or, you may wish to place the bottle of essential oil upside down in the well located next to the diffuser, but be sure that the plastic orifice is still in the bottle opening. Now, just turn it on.

How much oil will be used?: Thicker oils will diffuse more slowly than thinner ones. You can leave a bottle of thicker oils upside down on the well because it diffuses slowly. Thinner oils should be poured directly into the well because they diffuse quickly. Note: Never add water to oils or thin them with another substance. This could clog the jet and possibly alter the oil’s effects.

Changing Oils: You can change from a single oil to a blend or from a blend to a single. Simply allow the first oil to be completely diffused. If there is too much oil left to diffuse, use the enclosed eyedropper to return it to its bottle.

Mixing Oils: Avoid mixing two or more blends, as this may change the desired results. A single oil may be added to a blend, or two single oils may be mixed together and diffused. Avoid using vegetable oils such a V-6 Mixing Oil, massage oils, or other vegetable-based oils in your diffuser. Oils of this thickness may clog the diffuser.

How long should a diffuser be used?: In the home, a diffuser may be used for any length of time-anywhere from 5 minutes to continuous use. Short periods of 5 to 15 minutes are recommended for anyone who is experiencing oils for the first time. In large offices or commercial areas, the diffuser should be used for 15 to 30 minutes at a time until everyone in the area becomes acquainted with the oils.

We are well into summer now and swimsuit season is in full swing. One of the major concerns for practically every woman during swimsuit season is the dreaded C word…cellulite…that lumpy, dimpled, orange-peel texture that seems to target skin on thighs, bottom and backs of arms and is the shame and embarrassment of anyone who has it. Cellulite affects nearly every woman as she gets older. Major scientific discoveries have uncovered the factors that cause cellulite.

Although there are three layers of fat under the skin, only the top layer is involved with cellulite. Changes in the connective tissue structure in this top layer of fat, caused by pregnancy, hormonal, structural, vascular changes, genetics and aging, trigger the formation of cellulite allowing fat to protrude deeply into the dermis (the layer of skin beneath the outermost layer), which is what causes the characteristic lumpy appearance of cellulite.

Hormones secreted in response to stress, particularly cortisol, also encourage fat deposits in problem areas. Pregnenolone is the precursor hormone from which all other hormones are created. It is an important precursor for the body’s production of progesterone which blocks cortisol receptors.

Some of the essential oils that combat excess cortisol are Balsam Fir, Conyza, Fennel, Peppermint and Frankincense essential oils. Balsam Fir decreases cortisol whether inhaled, oral, or topical, by as much as 42% reduction, the average reduction, however is around 28%.

Young Living has a nutritional supplement called CortiStop, containing Pregnenolone and specific essential oils, and is designed to counter rising cortisol levels in women.

Magnetic resonance imaging studies have shown that women with cellulite have pillar-like columns separating the fat chambers, which are larger and deeper than those in men. These large vertical chambers can store an abundance of fat.

Collagen supporting tissues of men, on the other hand, is more like a criss-cross net that is organized into small diagonal chambers, which hold only small amounts of fat…that’s why men typically don’t have cellulite.

Cellulite is mostly related to the underlying structure or framework and relationship of adipose to connective tissue in women. Scientists are now saying that cellulite is a disease of the connective tissue and is the product of extensive connective tissue destruction and that the three main causes of cellulite are excess fat deposition, weakened connective tissue support structure and poor circulation.

Fat storage and breakdown are controlled by two sets of special receptors called alpha and beta receptors on the surface of each fat cell. The beta receptors promote fat loss and are regulated by the hormone epinephrine, whereas the alpha receptors prevent fat breakdown and promote fat storage. In the case of cellulite the alpha receptors outnumber the beta receptors. Women also unfortunately tend to have more fat storage alpha receptors than fat breakdown beta receptors in the hips and thighs.

Increasing production in the body of the enzymes hormone sensitive lipase and the enzyme protein kinase A will help break down the fat cells and release them into the bloodstream and is a key component of helping to eliminate fat and cellulite. Studies have shown that obese people have 70% less lipase in their blood.

Young Living has come out with a product called Lipozyme that is a combination of the enzyme lipase, pancreatin and essential oils all designed to aid in breaking down fats in the body. It converts fat to glycogen so it can be utilized in the body.

As well as connective tissue degeneration, poor circulation and lymph drainage can also aggravate and worsen cellulite. Exercise can stimulate epinephrine release, which can to some degree help reduce the appearance of cellulite but it’s not enough to completely eliminate cellulite. Increasing circulation will help increase lymph flow and also help to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Here are some essential oils to the rescue that are well known to help with circulation, stimulating the lymphatic system and encouraging the elimination of toxins and water retention, all of which help with reducing the appearance of cellulite.

Because some of these particular essential oils are quite strong, they can be irritating to sensitive skin so it is important, if you have sensitive skin, to dilute them in a carrier base oil such as almond, jojoba, coconut, olive, grape seed or avocado oils. All of these oils are great for the skin. Just make sure you are using an organic and expeller pressed oil still in its raw natural state so that its chemical composition hasn’t been altered or destroyed and that its skin nurturing properties are still in tact.

Most all oils when heated past 103 degrees Fahrenheit, with the exception of grape seed and coconut oil, are destroyed, change chemical structure and can even become toxic. A good rule of thumb is if you shouldn’t eat it then you shouldn’t put it on your skin because the skin will absorb it into the body.

So here are the essential oils that will help reduce the appearance of cellulite:

Juniper (Juniperus osteosperma and scopulorum) - Has been used for centuries as a diuretic and is excellent for relieving fluid retention. Renowned for its detoxifying and purifying ability, Juniper essential oil clears waste, promotes excretion of toxins and increases vascular circulation.

Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) - Rosemary increases warmth and stimulates blood circulation and is especially useful for circulatory problems of extremities. I stand on my feet for long periods of time and when my legs and calves swell up, rubbing Rosemary essential oil on them relieves the swelling and edema in about 2 minutes. It’s really incredible for combating fluid retention and lymphatic congestion making it very effective for cellulite and obesity (and great for keeping the legs from swelling up during air travel as well).

Cypress Essential Oil (Cupressus sempervirens) - This essential oil is most used for the circulatory system as it improves circulation and strengthens blood capillaries. It also helps in fluid reducing. It is excellent for varicose veins due to its vasoconstricting effect.

Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens) - Excellent for all skin types due to its ability to balance sebum. It improves blood flow, is a liver and pancreas stimulant and dilates the bile ducts for liver detoxification. Geranium essential oil also helps to balance the hormones.

Lemon (Citrus limon) - Lemon essential oil is stimulating for the circulatory system and improves microcirculation, strengthens vascular tissues, it is used for treating varicose veins by improving circulation and relieving pressure on the veins (together with Cypress essential oil in a 1 to1 ratio).

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) - Lavender oil may also be used in the treatment of stretch marks.

Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) - Relieves congested and oily skin, having a toning effect on both skin and tissues. For this reason it is a good oil to use when treating cellulite.

Orange (Citrus sinensis) – There is some resemblance between cellulite skin and that of an orange peel and that might be one of the first clues that Orange essential oil is an exceptional oil for reducing the appearance of cellulite. Orange essential oil is a diuretic and is great for relieving fluid retention, it also softens the epidermis, stimulates blood circulation and lymph fluids and is very helpful in treating swollen tissue.

I have mixed equal parts of Orange, Lemon, Cypress and Juniper essential oils and massaged these oils straight into my skin with no carrier oil but adding a few drops of base carrier oil might be a good idea if you have sensitive skin. I noticed a huge difference in the appearance of cellulite within about half an hour.

Young Living has created a cellulite reducing massage oil called Cel-Lite Magic that already has the cellulite reducing essential oils mixed with nourishing base oils if you don’t want to purchase a bunch of separate oils.

Here is a great idea for creating your own mixture of aromatherapy sparkling bath salts. You don’t need to spend lots of money on expensive brands when you can easily make your own and customize them with your own favorite scents.

Ingredients Needed:

1. ¼ cup of Baking Soda: You can easily find baking soda in any grocery store.

2. Two Tablespoons of Citric Acid: This is a natural substance derived from lemons and limes and is what gives them their sour taste. Citric acid is a common ingredient in many food items and supplements. You can usually find citric acid at baking stores or pharmacies. This ingredient is optional if you are having difficulty finding it.

3. ¾ cup of either fine grain sea salt, Himalayan pink salt, or Epsom salt: You can use a courser salt if you wish but fine salts will dissolve quicker so it’s just a matter of preference.

4. 20-25 drops of Essential oils: Here you can use your favorite essential oils customized just for you. My personal favorite is an equal mixture of geranium, orange and ylang ylang….it’s very sensual and feminine. Geranium and lemon mixed together is also a very happy uplifting scent and another favorite of mine. Pine baths are also great for sore aching muscles. Lavender is very calming and relaxing for those really stressful days. Rosemary, eucalyptus or peppermint are great for when you need some invigoration.

Young Living has some great blends that I love. One that I particularly love is called Joy and has a very high frequency…188MHz. Another favorite that men seem to like very well is called Sacred Mountain…it’s very grounding and solid and smells wonderful. Feel free to create your own blends of oils that you love. Just make sure you are using 100% therapeutic grade essential oils so you can get the therapeutic benefits.

Instructions:

Using a glass bowl, combine the salt, baking soda and the citric acid together and mix thoroughly. Then add your essential oils to this mixture and mix well. For best results you can let the oils mix with the salts for a week or two but you can also use it immediately if you can’t wait to try them out. Use approximately ¼ cup of the salts per bath.

PLEASE NOTE: The information in this article is based solely on the use of 100% Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils due to their high quality and tested purity. The use of a brand of uncertain quality and/or purity will provide you with potentially dangerous, if not lethal, results.
Essential oils were mankind’s first medicine. From Egyptian hieroglyphics and Chinese manuscripts, we know that priests and physicians have been using essential oils for thousands of years.
Today modern science is rediscovering the wisdom of the ancients.

What Benefits do PURE Essential Oils Provide?

Essential Oils are regenerating and oxygenating. They are the immune defense properties of plants and are so small in molecular size that they can quickly penetrate the tissues of the skin.
Essential oils are lipid soluble and are capable of penetrating cell walls, even if they have hardened because of an oxygen deficiency. In fact, essential oils can affect every cell of the body within 20 minutes and are then metabolized like other nutrients.

Essential oils contain oxygen molecules which help to transport nutrients to the starving human cells. Because a nutritional deficiency is an oxygen deficiency, disease begins when the cells lack oxygen for proper nutrient assimilation. By providing the needed oxygen, essential oils also work to stimulate the immune system.

Essential oils are very powerful antioxidants. Antioxidants create an unfriendly environment for free radicals. They prevent all mutations, work as free radical scavengers, prevent fungus, and prevent oxidation in the cells.

Essential oils are antibacterial, anti-cancerous, anti-fungal, anti-infectious, anti-microbial, anti- tumoral, anti-parasitic, anti-viral, and antiseptic. Essential oils have been shown to destroy all tested bacteria and viruses while simultaneously restoring balance to the body.
Essential oils may detoxify the cells and blood in the body.

Essential oils containing sesquiterpenes have the ability to pass the blood brain barrier, enabling them to be effective in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, Lou Gehrig’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis.

Essential oils are aromatic. When diffused, they provide air purification by: removing metallic particles and toxins from the air, increasing atmospheric oxygen, increasing ozone and negative ions in the area, which inhibits bacterial growth; destroying odors from mold, cigarettes, and animals.

Essential oils help promote emotional, physical and spiritual healing.

Essential oils have a bio-electrical frequency that is several times greater than the frequency of herbs, food, and even the human body. Clinical research has shown than essential oils can quickly raise the frequency of the human body, restoring it to its normal healthy level.

What Enables PURE Essential Oils to Provide Such Incredible Benefits?

Essential oils are chemically very heterogenetic; meaning they are very diverse in their effects and can perform several different functions. Synthetic chemicals are completely opposite in that they basically only have one action.

This gives essential oils a paradoxical nature which can be difficult to understand. However, they can be compared to another paradoxical group - human beings. For example, a man can play many roles such as father, husband, friend, co-worker, accountant, school teacher, scout master, etc…and so it is with essential oils. Lavender essential oil for example can be used for burns, insect bites, headaches, PMS, insomnia, stress, and so forth.

In beginning your journey into the realm of Aromatherapy and essential oils it is very important to use only the purest oils available. Anything less than pure, may not produce the desired results and can, in some cases, be extremely toxic. I personally use and recommend Young Living Essential Oils.

Clove
Eucalyptus

Consuming very small amounts of essential oils can attack infection from Helicobacter Pylori (H. Pylori), a common cause of stomach ulcers and even heart disease and cancer.

A concentration of just 0.002% Manuka or 0.004% Cinnamon Bark essential oils can wipe out several strains of Helicobacter pylori. Resistance of Helicobacter Pylori to Lemongrass did not develop even after 10 sequential passages, whereas resistance to clarithromycin developed under the same conditions. [T. Ohno, PhD, Kyoto Prefetural University of Medicine, Japan]

The most powerful anti-microbial essential oils:

Thyme - 55% Thymol - effective against e coli, salmonella and pneumonia. It also kills the organisms responsible for tooth decay, gingivitis and bad breath.

Clove - 80% Eugenol – kills more than 60 types of different bacteria. It’s also a powerful antioxidant and is anti-inflammatory.

Clove vs. Microbes:

Bacteria and fungi tend to cluster together in clusters called biofilms that serve as a powerful protective mechanism. Clove is one of the few natural compounds that can disrupt these biofilms. Eugenol disrupts biofilms.

ORAC- Clove bud essential oil is the most powerful antioxidant known, according to USDA researchers at Tufts University, and has over a one million ORAC score.

Oregano - 60% Carvacrol - Carvacrol from oregano essential oil kills spores from anthrax, e coli and 25 different bacteria.

Penicillin vs. Oregano Essential Oil:

12 micro liters of oregano essential oil had the antibacterial equivalence of 10 units of penicillin. Traditional antibiotics kill the bacteria, but wipe out good bacteria that the body needs as well in the process. Oregano essential oil is effective against penicillin resistant diseases and is highly antibacterial and anti-microbial.

Eugenol from Clove essential oil, thymol from Thyme essential oil, and carvacrol from Oregano essential oil have been used in dentistry since the 19th century for root canals, temporary fillings and cements, periodontal therapy and abscesses. These oils are currently designated as GRAS by FDA.

From my own personal experience I have used a combination of Thyme and Oregano essential oils, putting a few drops into empty capsules and taking them 3-4 times per day, for food poisoning, bronchitis, tooth infection, and bladder infections and they have worked very well for me when I didn’t feel like taking prescription antibiotics.

I also currently use Thieves oil blend, which has a high concentration of Clove essential oil in it, daily for the last 6 months or so for a chipped crown and root infection. The root infection hasn’t worsened in the last 6 months. I have been putting a couple of drops of the Thieves essential oil blend directly onto the tooth every morning after I brush my teeth. It seems to be working for me so far. I’m hoping to indefinitely put off cavitational surgery.

Lavender Essential Oil is often referred to as the universal oil, because there is such a multitude of uses for this oil, such as cuts, bruises, burns, headaches, and insomnia.

LAVENDER (Lavandula angustifolia)

ACTION: Antiseptic, analgesic, antitumoral, anticonvulsant, sedative, anti-inflammatory. Lavender essential oil is beneficial for cleansing cuts and wounds and is ideal for skin care, since it prevents the build up of excess sebum, a skin oil that bacteria feed on. Lavender has also been clinically evaluated for its relaxing effects.

TRADITIONAL USES: The French scientist René Gatefossé was the first to discover Lavender’s ability to promote tissue regeneration and speed wound healing when he severely burned his arm in a laboratory accident. He immediately immersed his arm into a bowl of liquid sitting on a table near him.

The liquid was Lavender essential oil. The pain quickly went away and the wound healed in a short time without scarring. Today, Lavender essential oil is one of the few essential oils to still be listed in the British Pharmacopoeia.

INDICATIONS: Burns (cell renewal), sunburns (including lips), dandruff, hair loss, allergies, convulsions, herpes, headaches, indigestion, insomnia, high blood pressure, menopausal conditions, nausea, phlebitis, tumors, premenstrual conditions, scarring (minimizes), skin conditions (acne, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, and rashes) and stretch marks. It may be used to cleanse cuts, bruises, and skin irritations

FRAGRANCE INFUENCE: Calming, relaxing, and balancing, both physically and emotionally.University of Miami researchers found that inhalation of lavender oil increased beta waves in the brain, suggesting heightened relaxation. It also reduced depression and improved cognitive performance (Diego et al., 1998)

Aromatherapy uses Lavender essential oil when treating psychological problems such as nervousness, insomnia, stress, depression, melancholy, fear and irritability. This oil helps stimulate and regenerate the nervous system and bring a feeling of calm

OTHER USES: Lavender is a universal oil with many different applications. It may help arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, convulsions, depression, earaches, heart palpitations, high blood pressure, hives (urticaria), insect bites, laryngitis, nervous tension, respiratory infections, rheumatism, and throat infections.

A Note Caution: If you are going to put Lavender essential oil on a burn you had better make sure it is 100% therapeutic grade essential oil from a reputable company you trust!

When you actually have a burn that you are trying to treat with Lavender essential oil and you are unknowingly instead putting more caustic chemicals onto your burn this can be serious trouble.

Lavender essential oil that is produced commercially is often distilled for only 15 minutes with a steam temperature of up to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and up to 155 pounds of pressure. Although the oil is easily marketed and sold, it is of very poor quality.

Some people are more concerned about the price than the quality. You can easily sell inexpensive Lavender essential oil if you can produce a pound of oil in 15 minutes instead of a pound of oil in an hour an a half by using lower heat and lower pressure to preserve the integrity of the oil.

In the larger fields of the world at distillation time, you can see chemical trucks hooked into the distillers pumping solvents into the water already in the boiler. This increases oil production by as much as 18 percent.

However, when you put a chemical in the water and force it with steam into the plant, it causes a fracturing of the molecular structure of the oil, altering its fragrance and constituents. Also you cannot separate the chemicals from the oil after they come through the condenser.

Today most of the Lavender oil sold in America is a hybrid called Lavandin, grown and distilled in China, Russia and Tasmania. It is brought into France, cut with synthetic linolyl acetate to improve the fragrance, added to propylene glycol or SD 40, DEP, and DOP (solvents that increase the volume), and then sold in the US as lavender oil.

Oftentimes Lavandin is heated to flash off the camphor, and then synthetic linolyl acetate is added so that it appears as lavender. Consumers do not know the difference and are happy to buy Lavandin for $5 to $7 per half ounce in health food stores, and through mail order.

These synthetic and adulterated oils can cause rashes, burns, or other irritations. We wonder why we do not get the benefits we were expecting and conclude that essential oils do not have much value. When synthetic fragrance constituents are added, the essential oil becomes weaker and weaker with each stage of distillation.

Many people have jumped on the bandwagon because of the money making potential they see in essential oils. They buy cheap oils, rebottle them, label them as 100 percent pure essential oils, and market them without ever knowing their origin or who was responsible for distillation.

It is critical to make sure you are using 100% therapeutic grade essential oils from a reputable company that you trust. To ensure that you are getting therapeutic-grade essential oils, find a company that submits their oils for routine testing by independent laboratories and whose oils are from organic source, distilled without chemical solvents at minimum temperatures and pressures, and are bottled straight from the still with no alterations or adulterations.

Oils with warnings on them about potential toxicity are probably not therapeutic or safe to use, except in massage, where they are diluted down to a 2-5% concentration in neutral carrier oil. The proof of an oil’s quality is in its manifested benefits when you use it.

Thieves Essential Oil Blend™

This blend was created from research about a group of 15th-century thieves who rubbed oils on themselves to avoid contracting the plague while they robbed the bodies of the dead and dying. When apprehended, these thieves disclosed the formula of herbs, spices, and oils they used to protect them-selves in exchange for more lenient punishment.

This specific blend of therapeutic-grade essential oils was tested at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah in 1997 the studies showed the anti-bacterial effectiveness of the Thieves blend against airborne microorganisms.

One analysis showed a 90 percent reduction in the number of gram positive Micrococcus luteus organisms after diffusing Thieves for 12 minutes. Then after diffusing Thieves for a total of 20 minutes, there was a 99.3 percent reduction. Another study against the gram negative Pseudomonas Aeruginosa showed a kill rate of 99.99 percent after just 12 minutes of diffusion of this blend.

Thieves essential oil blend is highly antiviral, antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-infectious and helps to protect the body against such illnesses as flu, colds, sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, sore throats, cuts, etc.

Just a quick note if you have a headache take one drop of Thieves essential oil blend on the tongue and press your tongue to the roof of your mouth and hold, your headache is gone in matter of minutes.

What Oils are in Thieves Essential Oil Blend?

Clove: oil, nature’s riches source of eugenol, and is the highest-scoring single ingredient tested for its antioxidant capacity on the ORAC scale 1,078,700. Clove is also known for its immune-enhancing properties. It’s antiviral, antibacterial, antimicrobial, and antioxidant. Clove contains antiviral and antibacterial phenolics known as phenylpropanoids. Clove oil at very small levels (0.06%) totally inhibited toxic mold and aflatoxin production.

Clinical studies have shown that Clove and its primary chemical components of phenol and eugenol kills:

60 different species of gram negative and positive bacteria
13 different fungi,
2 different viruses

ANTIVIRAL EFFECTS OF EUGENOL:
Eugenol strongly inhibits growth of HSVI and HSVII and significantly delayed the onset of herpetic lesion on the eyes of infected animals.

TOXIC MOLDS:
Aspergillus parasiticus is a soil-borne fungus growing on both living and decaying plant matter. This mold produces mycotoxins as metabolic by-products. One mycotoxin, aflatoxin BI has been identified as being the most toxic, carcinogenic, hepatotoxic and potentially mutagenic. Dr. Radwan Farag found that clove oil at only 6-8 parts in 10,000 totally inhibited mold and aflatoxin production.

Cinnamon Bark: has a reputation for relieving discomfort during the winter season and supporting the digestive system, antibacterial, antiviral. ORAC scale of 10,340. Tiny amounts of cinnamon bark decimate e coli in only 2 hours Cinnamon essential oil at 0.04% concentration completely stopped the growth of 35 different fungi. According to food microbiology Clove, Cinnamon and Thyme had the most antimicrobial effects.

Eucalyptus Radiata: As one of the most versatile of the eucalyptus oils it has many health-promoting properties. This powerful essential oil contains eucalyptol as one of its major elements, which in laboratory tests has been reported as being effective against bacteria in topical applications.

Lemon: oil with 68% d-limonene is a powerful antioxidant known for its ability to act as a natural solvent and cleanser. ORAC scale 660.

Rosemary: is naturally energizing and may be beneficial for helping restore mental alertness when experiencing fatigue, it also has antibacterial, antimicrobial properties. ORAC scale 330.

In 1997 Sue Chao tested Thieves essential oil at Weber State University for its antimicrobial effects:

When diffused, Thieves essential oil blend decimates 3 of the most common pathogenic bacteria and killed over 99% of micrococcus luteus bacteria within 20 minutes. The longer the Thieves essential oil was diffused the greater the reduction in microorganisms. The pathogens kept dying over time.

Here are the results of a study on the effects of Thieves essential oil blend on Aerosol-borne Bacteria:

BACTERIA COUNT (CFU) STARTING AT 0 TO 4500

1. With the bacteria of M. Luteus it was around 4100 and after using Thieves essential oil the count dropped to around 700.

2. With P. Aeruginosa it was around 2000 and after using Thieves essential oil, it dropped to 1.

3. With S. Aureus it was around 2300 and after using Thieves essential oil it dropped to 1000.

Now the effect of time on bacteria counts:

THE BACTERIAL COUNT (CFU) 0 TO 10000

1. Bacteria starting out at 10,000 at zero minutes:

2. After 3 minutes of diffusing Thieves essential oil it dropped to 5000

3. After 6 minutes of diffusing Thieves essential oil it dropped to 800

4. After 9 minutes of diffusing Thieves essential oil it dropped to 2

5. After 12 minutes of diffusing Thieves essential oil you can hardly see it.

Thieves Essential Oil Blend is so effective and popular - that there is an entire line of germ fighting products to choose from including: Thieves Sore Throat Lozenges; Thieves Household Cleansing Spray; Thieves Bar Soap; Thieves Toothpaste; and Thieves Mouthwash.

In China, in the early 1980s, a group of researchers from the Natural Science Institute began studying a region on the West Elbow Plateau of the Yellow River in Inner Mongolia where people lived to be over 100 years old, 10 to 20 years longer than the average person in the region. The inhabitants shared one trait that distinguished them from others. They were predominantly vegetarian and regularly consumed wolfberries. Moreover, the people who consumed this fruit lived free of common degenerative diseases like arthritis, cancer, and diabetes. Both the Ningxia wolfberry (also known as Lycium barbarum by botanists and as the goji berry by native Chinese) and ginseng (Panax ginseng) have been highly regarded for centuries as the foremost nutritional and therapeutic plants in China.

In fact, the Chinese hold a strong belief that human life might be extended significantly by using either of these herbs for an extended period. Unfortunately, ginseng is considered too strong for continuous use, and large amounts may not be suitable for people with high blood pressure or heart disease. On the other hand, the wolfberry is much milder, with no known risk from continuous use.

Some 17 different varieties of wolfberry have been identified. However, only one the Ningxia cultivar has been shown to possess the extraordinary nutrient and anti-oxidant content to support greater longevity. Until recently the Ningxia wolfberry was grown only on the Yellow River in the Ningxia Province of China, but it has been successfully transplanted and cultivated at the Young Living farm in Mona, Utah.

In 1988, the Beijing Nutrition Research Institute conducted detailed chemical analyses and nutritional composition studies of the dried wolfberry fruit. The Ningxia wolfberry contained over 18 amino acids, 21 trace minerals, more protein than bee pollen, more vitamin C than oranges, and nearly as much beta carotene as carrots.

Perhaps this is why the Chinese have traditionally attributed so many benefits to the wolfberry, claiming it protects liver function, replenishes vital essences, improves visual acuity, and lowers blood pressure and cholesterol. The Ningxia wolfberry was also said to strengthen muscles and bones, stimulate the heart, and work as an aid to treat diabetes and impotence.

Strongest Antioxidant Known according to a new test known as ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity), developed by USDA researchers at Tufts University, The Ningxia Wolfberry is the highest known antioxidant food, possessing an unmatched ability to absorb injurious free radicals that attack the body and contribute to cancer and aging.

Developed by Dr. Guohua Cao at the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University, the ORAC test is one of the most sensitive and reliable methods for measuring the ability of antioxidants to absorb oxygen radicals. It is the only test to combine both time and degree of inhibition of free radicals.

Since the early 1980s, the Ningxia wolfberry has been the subject of a number of important clinical studies, including several published by the State Scientific and Technological Commission in China. These studies have documented the antioxidant and immune-stimulating properties of the Chinese wolfberry.

From July 1982 to January 1984, the Ningxia Institute of Drug Inspection conducted a pharmacological experiment using multi-index screening (Register No. 870303). Their conclusion was: The fruits and pedicels of the Ningxia wolfberry were effective in increasing white blood cells, protecting the liver, and relieving hypertension. The alcoholic extract of wolfberry fruits inhibited tumor growth in mice by 58 percent, and the protein of wolfberry displayed an insulin-like action that was effective in promoting fat decomposition and reducing blood sugar.

Another clinical experiment by the Ningxia Institute (Register No. 870306, October 1982 to May 1985) studied the effects of Ningxia wolfberry on the immune, physiological, and biochemical indexes of the blood of aged volunteers. The results indicated that the wolfberry caused the blood of older people to noticeably revert to a younger state.

Can the Ningxia Wolfberry Boost Immune Function?

According to a report of the State Scientific and Technological Commission of China, the Ningxia wolfberry contains compounds known as lycium polysacharides, which appear to be highly effective in promoting immunity.

This conclusion was supported in a number of clinical trials. In one study on a group of cancer patients, the wolfberry triggered an increase in both lymphocyte transformation rate and white blood cell count (measures of immune function). In another study involving a group of 50 people with lower-limit white blood cell counts, the Ningxia wolfberry increased phagocytosis and the titre of serum antibodies (another index of immune function).

Unhealthy levels of titre of serum antibodies have long been associated with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (also known as Epstein-Barr). Does this mean that the wolfberry could be used as a weapon against Epstein-Barr? The possibilities are intriguing.

In another study, consumption of Ningxia wolfberry led to a strengthening of immunoglobulin A levels (an index of immune function). Because the decline of immunoglobulin A is one of the signs of aging, an increase in these levels suggests that the wolfberry may enable injured DNA to better repair itself and ward off tissue degeneration. Is the Ningxia Wolfberry a Powerful Antioxidant?

As we grow older, the levels of lipid peroxide in our blood increase, while levels of health-protecting antioxidants, like superoxide dismutase (SOD), decrease. In a clinical study of people who consumed doses of wolfberry, SOD in the blood increased by a remarkable 48 percent while hemoglobin increased by 12 percent. Even better, lipid peroxide levels dropped by an astonishing 65 percent.

Does the Ningxia Wolfberry Protect Eyesight? A test was conducted on the effects of wolfberry on eyesight. Twenty-seven people were tested and showed a dramatic improvement in both dark adaptation and vitamin A and carotene content of their serum (measures of eyesight acuity).

What is ORAC and S-ORAC?

Tuft University developed the ORAC test, Free radicals cause oxidation, inflammation, toxicity and mitochondrial dysfunction in our bodies. They are produced by our metabolism and toxic environments. Foods can be tested to assay their capacity to neutralize these free radicals. Foods highest on the ORAC test are those which best neutralize free radicals.

What do the initials stand for? ORAC: Oxygen radical absorbance capacity. Another test is for superoxides. S-ORAC: superoxide radical absorbance capacity. Superoxides are the most dangerous and prevalent free radicals in our bodies. S-ORAC testing measures a product’s ability to destroy the most dangerous and abundant free radical–superoxide. Elevated superoxide is linked to heart disease, cancer, arthritis, asthma, and other inflammatory conditions.

NingXia Red from Young Living, not only claims to be one of a kind, it has the numbers and the research to prove it.

Here’s the list of ingredients for NingXia Red. I’d also like to recommend that you do research on the MAIN ingredient. Go to pubmed.org and do a search on the latin name for wolfberry which is Lycium barbarum.

NINGXIA WOLFBERRY (Lycium barbarum) juice is one of the highest known antioxidant nutrients. It is rich in polysaccharides that have been studied for their ability to combat cancer and strengthen the immune system. It is rich in polyphenols, carotenoids, magnesium, potassium, and vitamin C.

BLUEBERRY JUICE (from concentrate) is one of the highest antioxidant foods according to ORAC research developed by USDA researchers at Tufts University. Animal studies at Tufts University have shown that blueberry extracts can reverse many of the signs of aging.

RASPBERRY JUICE (from concentrate) is rich in ellagic acid, a vital anti-aging nutrient which provides powerful protection against cell mutation.Pomegranate Juice (from concentrate) is an extremely high antioxidant nutrient that has been show to prevent heart disease in clincial studies.

APRICOT JUICE (from concentrate) contains high concentrations of carotinoids, a class of highpowered antioxidants that includes beta carotene (provitamin A). Apricots are also rich in rutin, which strengthens blood vessels.

ORGANIC BLUE AGAVE NECTAR is an extremely low glycemic nutrient from the desert cactus Agave salmiana and Agave angustifolia.

ESSENTIAL OIL of Orange (Citrus sinensis) is very high in limonene, a supernutrient that has been studied extensively for its ability to prevent cellular mutations and reverse cancer.

Getting the most from your NingXia Red supplement:

Shake well before pouring (you’ll notice the wolfberry puree settles in the bottom of the bottle and needs shaking).

Drink NingXia Red chilled or at room temperature.

Drink NingXia Red alone or blended into your favorite health shake.

Drink plenty of water every day. This breaks down food in to smaller particles and helps assimilation into the cells. Also, drinking water will help flush toxins that may be loosened by your NingXia Red juice. Most healthcare professionals recommend adults drink a min. of 2 quarts of plain water daily.

Be patient and consistent. Some people may experience immediate results, while it may take some time for others (as much as 30-90 days).

The half life (length of time NingXia Red juice works in the body) is short, about 4-8 hours. Taking several doses throughout the day is recommended.

Basic Dosage Guidelines:

Severe health challenge: 2-3 ounces 3-5 times a day

Minimal health concerns: 2 ounces 2-3 times a day

Preventative: 1-2 ounces 2-3 times a day

Kids (ages 6-12): 1/2 adult dosage

Kids (under 6): 1/4 adult dosage

Infants (once fruit is introduced in diet): 1 tablespoon a day

Pregnant and lactating women may drink NingXia Red juice.

Experiment. Every body is unique.

I am living proof chiggars DO NOT itch when you apply Melaleuca essential oil on them! And you are safe wearing sandals with Peppermint essential oil. Folks with boots and no Peppermint essential oil are in for a meetin’ with chiggars!

I got into the shower and washed off with a wash rag after going out in the field that day. Then I put Peppermint, Malaleuca, and Olive oil on, no itching! I won and the chiggars lost!

- Kim Allen

South Texas is “ground zero” for fire ants. After a mild attack several years ago, my emergency room doctor said the next one could be much worse and gave me a presciption for an “eppy” pin just in case. I decided to start carrying around Purification and Lavender at all times. Now a drop or two of each when occasionally “hit” and barely a red spot occurs.

-Chuck Graff

Recently, while working in my garden, I stepped on a fire ant hill. Since I was wearing flip flops, the ants immediately covered my feet and started biting. After removing the ants from my feet I ran inside the house and grabbed my essential oil, Purification.

About 30 minutes after applying this oil to my bites, the pain was almost gone. The next day you couldn’t even tell I had any ant bites.

-Stella Maldonado

Every spring I have a healthy invasion of little black ants that come into my kitchen for a few weeks. Recently I threw a deli wrapper into my trash can and ten minutes later it was literally covered with ants. I could see more of them filing in from the cupboard from the wall outside.

I grabbed a bottle with a dilution of Thieves cleaner in it and gave it a try. It killed them instantly on contact. No joke! I’ve been using it every day since and it works great!

-Deborah Carlton

Over 4 years ago I had fleas. I diffused Peppermint oil for a few days. I had no fleas, no flies, no spiders, no ants. Varmits are varmits…Peppermint chases them all…including mice.

-Char Horn

I have always use Purification for the mosquitos but decided to experiment with Peppermint. Was really interested in finding that if one does put this on the skin it really does act as a repellent. Then one day after looking at my veggies and what the insects had done to them I decided to create a spray with Peppermint to see what happens.

Well, amazingly enough, the insects fell right off and that was the end of them. I have always used Thieves spray but as a test this was so interesting and so quick. I’m sure it would be good for the life force of the veggies/herbs as well.

-Gavin Hartley

Last summer, while at an annual pipers picnic out in the country, I got stung on one of my fingers by a wasp. The only oil I had with me was Peppermint so I rubbed it on the area and it reduced the pain. When I got home I added some Lavender. By the end of the day all pain and swelling was gone and my finger was back to normal.

-Isabelle Baillie

My tenant had a serious wasp and hornet infestation in the ceiling of her enclosed porch. I took an 8 oz. spray bottle full of water and added 25-30 drops each of Purification and Peppermint and sprayed the walls and ceiling.

The wasps and hornets refused to land to enter their hives. Two weeks later we noticed a few going back into the holes again so I sprayed again. It has been about a month since the last spray and NO wasps or hornets!

-Nicole Hutnik

My daughter called me and she was very distraught. My three year old granddaughter had another tick, only this time it was a deer tick and fully embedded. She tried Peppermint oil with no success. I checked out the Essential Oils Desk Reference and found that Thyme and Oregano would probably work, so I took it right over.

My granddaughter was not very cooperative by this time, so I just touched a Q-tip with some Thyme oil to her neck. The tick backed right out and I was able to pluck it off with the tweezers in seconds. We followed that with Purification oil for several days and watched for a rash. This was six weeks ago and she has no symptoms of lyme disease.

-Donna Kessler

I must have walked into a spider one morning when walking through the basement to do laundry. I felt a sudden sting on my chin and rubbed it. By the time I got upstairs I had a red welt and 4 little holes in my chin. I immediately put the Purification blend oil on it and several hours later I tried Lavender.

I just didn’t feel like either one of these oils were quite right. Since I didn’t know what I was dealing with I wasn’t sure what to do. It still hurt, so a few hours later I tried Melrose and it immediately felt better. I put it on again before bedtime and a.m. and p.m. for 2 more days. It’s gone!

-Vivian Weiss

About 50 days ago I woke up with two bites near my arm pit. I have had spider bites before and found that Purification solved the problem. I used it many times through out the day. When bitten or stung I have learned I must use more often during the day.

These two bites were growing in size and it was irritating. I also added Melrose and many other single oils and blends. Finally after battling these bites…..I started adding Helichrysum and all of a sudden these bites were healing faster. Today I can barely see the two red marks.

I don’t know what monster bit me, but last Friday Shauna and I were cleaning out some boxes in the garage and low and behold we found 8 spiders and two of them we identified as Brown Recluse. Thank heavens for our oils!! Whew!!

- Richard Dastrup

First let me say that if you believe you were bit by a brown recluse spider or a black widow and are unsure as how to treat it, feel scared, worried, etc. – please seek medical attention right away.

The first sign was what I thought was just a mosquito bite. Intuition told me to put Purification on it to kill the ‘venom’ and Lavender for the itch. Hindsight I will ALWAYS put Purification on mosquito bites now because that’s how most spider bites first appear to be and could become serious. So it’s a preventive measure.

As I itched the site it became worse. I noticed that the ‘mosquito bite’ was getting bigger. It was red, itchy and swollen. It was now as large as 2×2 inches. It itched about 10 times a day. I showed a co-worker and she suggested it may be a spider bite. This was already a week since I first noticed it so now I was on the web and in the Essential oil desk reference for what to do.

Ok so if you ever looked up spider bites at this point one would normally freak out. I never realized what a little spider bite could do! But my fear did not turn into worry/over concern because I knew I had the best essential oils in the world, and that belief, I feel, really helped the ‘poison’ not get out of control. Something within me just knew I would be OK. Not that I shouldn’t take care of it, but escalating the situation would not help, and could lead to the manifestation of unwanted symptoms.

I watched the area all the time. I applied Purification about 10 times a day, especially when it itched. I DID NOT itch it as I believe this ‘ignites’ the poison to travel, which you DON’T want to happen, since I saw that when I itched the area grew - sometimes I felt itching inches away from the bite area! I took an oral essential oils anti-biotic formula 3 times a day – 5 drops of Thieves, 2 drops of Frankincense and 2 drops of Oregano – to protect from blood poisoning. I also applied ImmuPower in the morning and before bedtime to help my immune system fight this. Don’t take spider bites lightly! This all gave some relief.

However, the site was growing a little bit and I felt I needed to do a little more. I read that Epsom salts would help and was told by a pharmacist that regular salt would work just as well. So I applied warm-hot compresses using filtered water and sea salt. I immediately felt a difference. The swelling went down and it appeared less red. I then followed up with Purification on the site.

About a week and ½ from feeling the first itch the symptoms now are: itching only about 3 times a day (I again don’t itch and instead apply Purification keeping it by my bed stand for night time use since the itch literally wakes me up), the site has stopped spreading, it is a lot less red, it’s not swollen and has little pimple-like white bumps with a ‘crust’ appearing on each bump. I believe this is the poison being drawn OUT of the body by the oils.

After about 2 weeks I noticed I was getting more relief from the salt compresses and that the oils were causing it to itch more! I believe the area started to ‘over-detox’. So I stopped the oils and did the salt compresses about 3 times a day. After about 3 days all visible signs of the bite were gone with only some itching remaining but less and less every day.

So I don’t know what it was that bit me but I hope this helps anyone that finds that their mosquito bite is more than that!

Insect Repellent Blend:
• 6 drops Peppermint
• 6 drops Tea Tree
• 9 drops Eucalyptus radiata

Application:

Topical: DILUTE 20/80 using a base oil such as almond or jojoba or V6 and apply to exposed skin as needed or mix with 8 ounces of water in a spray bottle, shake well and spray directly on exposed skin areas.

To repel insects, essential oils can also be diffused or put on cotton balls or cedar chips(for use in closets or drawers)

A Brown Recluse Experiment

By David Stewart, Ph.D., R.A.

Seeing how squirting a peppermint-water spray would kill flies in mid-air, I wondered what pure oil would do. So I did an experiment on a brown recluse spider. I captured a live one in a jar and carefully placed one drop of peppermint on one side. The pure peppermint repelled the spider who crowded to the other side to avoid the oil.

When I tipped the jar to force the spider to fall into the oil, it merely squirmed and got away, still repelled by the oil, but not apparently harmed. Then I put a drop of water with the oil and tipped the jar so that the spider slid into the water and oil together and, instantly, it shriveled up and died.

Conclusion: The oil alone is an insect repellent. Combined with water, it is an insecticide.

Specific Oils for Specific Insects

Recently I painted chairs on a concrete driveway using spray paint. I was barefoot on the beautiful summer evening, not realizing that as I stepped onto the drop cloths a paint mist was covering my tootsies. I looked at the bottom of my feet that evening and my feet were COVERED with primer and with buttercup yellow paint!

I applied Lemon essential oil to my painted feet and found that the paint softened and was easy to wipe off with a cloth. I used the Lemon essential on the other spots of paint on my arms and hands with total success too.

- Miriam Saxton

I used Lemon essential oil on my 4 year old son when he managed to get chewing gum stuck in his hair. I just put a couple of drops on a cotton ball and rubbed it in his hair. It came out like paper. It also came off of skin with ease. It did burn him a little so I had to use a little V-6 mixing oil to dilute it. That helped he said.

- Amy Turpin

I use lemon essential oil to keep my fruits fresh, like apples and bananas and it helps them not turn brown. Good flavor too.

- Mashell Arens

My white towels tend to get, well, rather used looking, probably due to the oils and lotions I always have on. Even though their labels say “No Chlorine Bleach” and I don’t like to use chlorine bleach, that’s been the only thing that got them clean.

Last week I remembered that oil attracts oil so I used about 30 drops of Lemon essential oil instead of chlorine bleach. It worked like a charm; the towels are white and soft and no chlorine smell or residue.

-Susan Atchison

I had a really bad cough for about a month and a half. I started putting 4-5 drops of Lemon essential oil in my bottled water. (I drink about 4-5 bottles a day) After about a week my cough was completely gone.

-Amy Hawker

I didn’t know how bad I felt until I started using essential oils. The first oil I ever used was Lemon essential oil. I put it on my wrists and started noticing that my moods were a lot better. Up until that time I hadn’t thought of myself as a depressed person but after using the oil for several months the difference was too obvious to deny it.

Wow, who could imagine that a simple essential oil could make that much difference!! That was just the beginning of learning about essential oils and why they benefit a person on so many different levels.

- Lori McMaster

My co-worker had a bad lump in her throat, and consequently, very sore. We had her get a bottled water and drop about 5 drops of Lemon essential oil in it. 15 minutes later the pain was gone!! This kind of INSTANT GRATIFICATION is great. No guarantees for others but it worked for her and certainly worth a drop…or 5.

- Tim Smith

A dermatologist examined a cyst on my cheek about the size of an acorn. She advised me that it was non-cancerous and said the only way to treat it was to surgically remove it. This was not acceptable for me and not an option for me. I remembered that the key constituent of Lemon essential oil was d-Limonene and considered anti-tumoral.

Within 60 days of adding several drops of Lemon essential oil to my Ninxia Red and application of a drop to the cyst daily, the cyst is totally gone and no scar!

-Jim Wolfe

I eat a lot of fish and especially salmon. I always make sure the window above the cooking area is open whenever I cook but when my daughter and grandson visited shortly after I had cooked my salmon dinner they were emphatic about the smell. Every time since then I have added about 3 drops of Lemon essential oil to the steamer water and voila! No more fishy smell.

As much as I love to hear my pastor speak, I have found that when the temperature for the air conditioning is set really low it is almost impossible for me to stay awake without getting up to stand in the back of the church.

Recently I heard that Lemon essential oil was good for alertness so I brought some with me to church the next time and when I felt I was starting to fall asleep I put some on my wrists and on my temples. As soon as I smelled it I felt more alert and I was able to stay awake through the sermon. I now make sure I always have Lemon essential oil with me when I’m driving.

A summer favorite of mine is putting a drop of Peppermint oil and a couple of drops of Lemon essential oil into a bottle of ice water. Shake hard and watch the bubbles and drink it down for a great refreshing drink that, in my opinion, is better tasting than most sodas or teas. It will also keep the water bottle in your car from growing mildew or getting yucky.

I am always forgetting my water bottles in my car and I can pick up a bottle literally months later (I know, how gross!! but true!) and it is still fresh and clean tasting! Great for fresh breath too! This is a great alternative for anyone trying to kick the caffeine or soft drink habit- tastes great and keeps you perky!

For homemade lemonade, in a blender mix the juice of 2 squeezed lemons, 2 drops of Lemon essential oil, 2 tablespoons of honey or blue agave and two cups of pure water. Adjust the amount of each ingredient to suit your own taste.

Add a couple of drops of Lemon essential oil to sparkling mineral water for a great lemon essence flavor… you could add Lemon essential oil to ANY kind of juice.

You can mix Lemon essential oil into yogurt or ice cream, or lemon meringue pie….any desert that lemon would taste good in.

For a spinach fettuccini alfredo take fresh spinach, add garlic, some cream cheese, parmesan cheese and spices, cook it up and then right before serving add some olive oil to the pasta, put a drop of Lemon essential oil on a wooden spoon and stir it into the spinach alfredo sauce and then toss all the ingredients with the pasta -delicious!

Add a few drops to your salad dressing or infuse your olive oil with the Lemon essential oil and use it for dipping.

Create your own pesto with 1/2 cup raw pine nuts, 1/2 cup raw pumpkin seeds, a small bouquet of fresh organic basil leaves, a clove of garlic mashed in a mortar and pestle with a little sea salt or Himalayan pink salt into a little paste (that takes the stinging bite out of the garlic). Blend all the ingredients in a food processor with some olive or Udo’s oil and add a couple of drops of Lemon essential oil for a really delicious and healthy pesto.

Just have fun…no rules here … just experiment on what you think will taste good!

To clean and increase the shelf life of fresh fruit, fill a bowl with cool water and 2-3 drops of Lemon essential oil. Drop your cleaned fruit into the water and stir. Be sure all surfaces of the fruit contact the lemon water.
